I recently attended a photography workshop in County Clare run by a photographer whose work I'm a fan of by the name of George Karbus (http://www.emerald-vision.com/). This guy takes once in a lifetime shots on what seems like weekly basis. Most of his best shots are taken 10 metres under water while free diving and although he wasn't going to take us for a swim under the Cliffs of Moher, he took us to some of his favourite locations along the coast and inland on The Burren.
It was very interesting to meet him and hear some of the stories of his travels. I found him very unpretentious and it was refreshing to meet an established photographer who still gets excited by his craft and has a passion for the subjects he shoots.
While the workshop focused on digital gear, I was able to revisit some locations afterwards with a few rolls of film. I shot some monochrome and colour slide. Unfortunately, I managed to balls up the chemistry when processing the colour film but was still able to salvage something from them. Oh well, at least I have an excuse to visit Clare again and take some more shots.
